Quickstart
Generate your first clip in about five minutes.
This walks through one text-to-video generation, start to finish.
1. Sign in
Open Kling 4.0 and sign in from the header — email and password, or your Google account. Generating requires an account because every generation is charged against your credit balance and saved to your library.
Once you are signed in, your credit balance appears in the header. You need enough credits to generate. Payments are currently marked Coming soon; see the pricing page for availability or contact support.
2. Describe the shot
The prompt box is the first thing on the home page. Write what should be on screen — the subject, what it does, how the camera sees it:
A lone hiker crests a snowy ridge at sunrise, backpack swaying.
Handheld camera follows from behind, low golden light, cold blue shadows,
breath visible in the air.Kling 3.0 Turbo prompts can run to 2,500 characters. Longer and more specific generally beats short and vague — Writing prompts covers why.
Not sure what to write? The Inspiration gallery shows real generations with the prompts that produced them; you can open one and edit its prompt instead of starting from a blank box.
3. Set model, length, and quality
Below the prompt box:
- Model — Kling 3.0 Turbo is the default available model. Kling 4.0 is locked and marked Coming soon.
- Length — 3–15 seconds, with 5 seconds selected initially.
- Resolution — 720p or 1080p. Start at 720p.
- Aspect ratio — 16:9 by default; 9:16 and 1:1 are also available.
- Audio — Kling 3.0 Turbo has no audio on/off control in the workspace.
The credit cost updates as you change these, and the number shown before you submit is the number that gets charged.
4. Generate
Press generate. The task moves into the results panel and keeps running even if you navigate away or close the tab — rendering happens on the server, not in your browser. A 5-second clip typically comes back in a couple of minutes; longer clips and higher resolutions take proportionally longer.
5. Collect the result
Finished clips appear in the results panel and in My Assets, where they stay available for download. From a finished clip you can:
- Download the MP4.
- Regenerate with the same settings for a different take — every run is a fresh sample, so a prompt that nearly worked often works on the second try.
- Reuse it as input — feed the last frame into a new generation to continue the shot.
What next
- Text to video — every control, in detail.
- Image to video — start from your own frame.
- Writing prompts — the part that most affects your results.
